Olympus SP-720uz vs Nikon S9100, need help?

So far i have concluded that i am not ready for a slr yet but want to grow out of point and shoot, so i am left with bridge cameras.i am not an expert yet, so you can consider me as an amateur photographer who is shifting to a bridge camera and wants high shutter speed plus manual controls.i want to kind of control the camera whenever i feel like it (varying aperture, iso, shutter etc and panorama)
i have chosen two cameras and i need your feedback regarding which is better: Nikon S9100 and Olympus SP-720.apart from that i urgently need to decide as my Mphil thesis is on Art and Architecture of Hindu temples (so there is going to be a lot of architecture and art photography). there are some areas in a Hindu temple where there is low light, which of these is going to respond well and capture both the architectural and art elements.plus i also love macro photography and pictures with depth in the field.

AD says Nikon Coolpix L810 has 1080p but can only find 720p, is AD a LIE?

WAL-MART is running a local newspaper ad for Nikon Coolpix L810 camera, claims it is a 1080p video mode and picture mode but the camera, the package and Nikon's website ONLY had 720p for this model. I even went to Nikon's website.

So is this false advertising? Accidental? Or Are there really TWO different version of L810???

Please help me before I pull all my hair out of my head… thanks.

I'm looking for a quality camera?

I cosplay, so my friends and I want to do cosplay music videos and photoshoots. And I'd like a good camera for that, and just for taking pictures in general.
The most I'm probably willing to spend is $250 (even up to $270 would be fine, it all depends on how much I like the camera), and a refurbished camera is okay as well
However, I want the megapixels to be decent, and I want it to be at the very least 12 or 13 MP
And for the video qualities, I want it to have HD videos with sound… And I really want it to be 1080p
It also needs to have optical zoom (not digital zoom) that is high, so maybe around 25x (I would really prefer one with 30x)?
I don't know anything else about what a camera should have, but I did find some that caught my eye but I don't know if they're any good:
Nikon Coolpix P500, Samsung WB850F SMART, Canon Powershot SX40 HS (This is the one I was really looking at, but I can't find it in my price range like I did before)

So, do you know any cameras that fit my description or are better? Thank you so much in advance!

SD card not working in camera?

I'm going to a concert tonight, and I want to take pictures. I have a Nikon D500, but the venue does not allow camera with removable lenses (like mine) I also have a Nikon Coolpix L1, which I was planning on using. I have an 8gb memory card from my D500, but when I put it in the camera it the thing in the bottom corner that says how many pictures you've take/pn/have left just says '0' and it won't turn off. I also have a 256 mb card that works, but it only holds 165 pictures OR 6 minutes of video. Why is it not working, and is there a way to fix it? I think there may be a few pictures on the 8gb card, does that effect it? The cards are both by Sandisk, by the way. Thanks!

I currently have a Nikon Coolpix S8000.At the time I bought it, it was a great camera.It did everything I wanted and needed.
Now, I'm a huge concert-goer. I bring my camera to every show I go to. Whenever I want to take a picture or take a video, the quality of the photos aren't as great anymore (compared to what they could be) and the videos taken don't produce that great of audio anymore (produces static and scratchy noise when I play back the videos). I don't know if that's just because of the volume of the music, or what. But it's annoying. I've been to Best Buy and Future Shop looking for a better camera so I can take with me to shows and big concerts without having to worry about taking crappy pictures and poor audio-quality videos. I need something fairly small that I'm able to fit into my pocket or a small bag (I'm a not a professional photographer, and security doesn't let in big high-tech cameras). I've been told that the Canon Sx260HSR would be perfect for what I want to use the camera for. Could this be true? And if there's anything else out there that I don't know of or ever heard of, I'd appreciate it if someone could inform me! Thanks in advance!

Getting the right settings on my Nikon Coolpix s550?

I have a Nikon Coolpix s550, and I don't like to mess around with settings in between shots to get perfect pictures (I really just don't know how to). I was wondering if there are some good settings I can use as a "default" to fix the following problems:
1. Fuzziness (I've heard "ISO" can fix this but I don't really get what that means)
2. Flash causing subject to be over exposed and background to be "blacked out."
The "auto settings" just aren't working for me and I want to put my camera to good use and take good pictures. Can someone help me out?

Im looking into getting a new camera and I had a few options.My first pick was the Nikon L810 (which I havent heard very great things about), Second my friend offered to borrow me a Fuji S5000, third I have found a new camera Im interested in and have read some good reviews. Samsung nx1000 photo quality.?

I purchased the samsung nx1000 and I used the smart auto mode. Took a picture, it looks amazing on the 3 inch LCD screen but once i upload it to facebook, it doesnt look stunning anymore it's like the photo is so dull the colors are not striking at all compared to when i view it on the camera itself so I feel like i've been cheated.Is it only the smart auto mode? or its better with other modes such as Manual? Does anyone think Nikon P500 can take much more decent photos than this?

Nikon p510- selective color option it's not saving the edited photo?

I bought a new Nikon P510. I just tried to edit some of the photos on the camera and when I used the selective color option the altered image is not saving.It looks changed in the preview, but once I press the okay button it just changes it to black and white- not like the preview where it showed some isolated color. Please help! =)

I did not upload the images to the computer yet, do I need to upload them to be able to see the change? I assumed I would be able to see it on the screen.

Best setting on Nikon P510 for a newborn in a hospital?

I have my first child on the way soon, and did not have a huge budget nor the time to learn DSLR. I went ahead and purchased a Nikon P510.

Any suggestions for what would be the best setting would be great.

I'm not sure if a flash would be too bright for the little guy, how that reacts with the walls, etc.

So i have a nikon coolpix l810 and it requires AA batteries.i have batteries and i charge the batteries with the battery charger.it's fine when i take pics with it but when i take videos on it, the battery automatically loses half its battery when i fully charged the batteries and i have a 16gb card… what can i do???

I just bought an Olympus e420, older model ofcourse for $110 at walmart. I am currently using a Nikon coolpix 5600. I want to have more professional pics as I have an online store selling hair products and wigs. The Nikon takes amazing pictures IMO, but I am an amateur, so I can't quite say if the pics are professional.

Anyway, both are old model and the Nikon is sufficing, just not the quality I want. I see other websites with the same type of product I am selling and my phone tells me what model camera was used and they used an olympus e500 and the pics look great!

Have a lovely old Nikon coolpix 950.?

That's almost impossible to use because its just "eats" batterys… From fully charged 2.500 battery's I get about 20 to 30 shots… without the flash … Pity really 'cos its takes great photos. Apart from running it on the DC input any other bright idea's.

Should I keep the Nikon Coolpix L310?

So I just got the nikon coolpix L310 on black friday for $100 at target, so I still have time to return it if I decide to.

I needed a camera for photography class next semester, and I'm not sure if this will be good enough? Obviously I would use it out of photography class too, like in everyday life - school, vacation, etc., so I just need to know if it's worth keeping. For photography, it needs to be a 35mm camera (doesn't need to be SLR) -- whatever that means… I don't even know if that fits the requirements.

I'm not very experienced. I used to have a good little red sony cybershot (purshased 4 years ago), but unfortunately I can't locate that and I think that was a pretty good camera being portable with good quality and such.

Do you think I should purchase another sony cybershot? or do you recommend any other cameras? I'll be willing to spend $130ish if it's good quality. Or do you think I should just keep this camera?

Why are my pictures from my digital camera blurry when I sent them on my phone?

Just recently got the Nikon coolpix L310 and i took some pictures. I uploaded them to my computer and they were fine, not blurry. I sent them to both my galaxy and my ipod but they showed up blurry. I thought it was the size of the picture so i made it smaller but it was still the same. Its not my phones because its only those pics.Do i need to put it on a certain setting? Good Digital SLR type camera?

How do I increase my shutter speed? I browsed my settings for an hour, but can not find it. I'm trying to get my pictures to stop have motion blurs.In some pictures, they're minor, and in others they're big.

What does COOLPIX do to a normal person? And what could be done to the person(s) that paid money to the Doctor foe such person to be injected with such injection? Hello everyone.

I recently bought the Nikon Coolpix L810 and while i was checking for batteries on amazon, i saw this product:

What do you guys think? should i give it a try? I'm afraid to do so because there is no way to attach lens or filters to this type of camera. Also i was reading about some similar products for the L120 and it seems legit, but what about the zoom? wouldn't be affected?

I have a nikon coolpix L12 that I got years ago. Althogh it has always had a problem with the lens it has gotten worse. When I try to turn it on the lens moves in and out approximately four time before closing and moving back in again. How to get a quality photo shooting in a low lighting room?

Hello,
I'm currently using the Nikon coolpix L810 and I was wondering what mode should i shoot in if im trying to get a photo of a room with low light. I'm a real estate photographer and I am new the the industry and my thinking was to get 2 continues lights sources place them behind me high in the air, have the camera on a tripod and shoot in a mode that has the slowest shutter speed. Any thoughts?

Canon or Nikon professional DSLR camera?

I'm not sure which camera I want to get so I need some help. I am planning to go to school for photography and starting my own photography business, but I don't have a "professional" camera yet. I would like to get a camera where I can change out the lenses and have a wide variety to choose from to purchase.
I have heard good things about Canon, but I have a Nikon coolpix compact digital right now and it works really great. How do the cameras compare for Nikon against Canon on the upper end of cameras, like DSLRs?

Also, which camera do you have or would you recommend for professional photography and what lenses do you recommend buying to go along with it that will be used the most.

What camera lighting would work best for indoor real estate photograpy?

I just bought a nikon coolpix and found out the review for indoor low lighting pictures are supposedly bad so i need some extra lighting to compensate. What would be a cheap solution to this problem

I needed a inexpensive camera with a wide angle lens and it seems to be a pretty good deal.Im just using this until i can afford a Nikon D3 body, a wide angle lens, and a telophoto lens. Also if i could find lighting with its own power suply because im asuming some of these houses are going to have no or little lighting.

Ugly on video but good looking in real life?

I decided to do a video with me and friends and I looked HORRIBLE! My face looked washed out, my nose looked bigger than what it is, my eyes appear smaller and I look 10X my age.Is this how I really look? I look BAD in certain lighting, but all my friends appear the same. I DO NOT like what I see, and now my self-esteem is SHOT! PLEASE HELP!!! Guys don't really approach me in real life and one girl called me ugly before, I came to the realization that maybe I am. So I have a question.In my past experience I've owned a Nikon L105, L110 and a Nikon P100. And I'm ready to move up to a DSLR. What Camera should I have?

Hello everybody I'm starting a youtube channel about technology and wanted to know what camera to buy. I have 2 in mind, Nikon Coolpix p510 and a Nikon d3100 with 18-55mm kit. I understand they are 2 different types of cameras.the p510 is a bridge camera (superzoom) and the d3100 is a dslr. The types of videos i will mostly be doing is unboxings and reviews on products and i would like to have good autofocus and good macro shots AND i will be using 2 studio lights with daylight bulbs so that will improve the video. I am assuming the d3100 is better video quality but because its nearly 3 years old the p510 could be better having coming out about 8 months ago and on amazon the d3100 with lens kit is currently £15 more dearer than the p510 but they are both on sale. What one should i get ?

Is it time to move up from a point and shoot to a DSLR?

I have recently gotten really into photography, and want to know if i should upgrade my Nikon Coolpix P500 to a DSLR camera. I am going into to high school next year and am expecting to be taking many photography classes. I am also about to go on a series of trips.In school, because it's our last year there in middle school we are taking a trip to Mexico. Then, during the summer before high school me and my family are going to Paris! We also have two trips planned for Californian in between, including Disneyland. On all of these trips I expect to be taking MANY photos and want to know if it's just overall time to upgrade. Being that I am basically turning into someone who has their camera everywhere, should I upgrade to DSLR? I'm starting to feel like my Nikon point and shoot isn't going to hold up with all the photos I'm about to start taking in the next few months. Also, if I do get a DSLR I was looking at the Nikon D3100. I hear it's a good "entry level" DSLR camera. Would it be right for me?

Broken Battery Compartment on Nikon Coolpix L24?

I received a the Nikon Coolpix L24 as a gift last Christmas and recently, the small clip that held the battery compartment closed, snapped off.Is there anyway to repair this? Or is the camera completely done for? I know that I could simply tape the compartment closed, but I feel as though that wouldn't be entirely wise. I doubt it would be hard to fix, but I could be wrong. Could someone recommend any ideas or suggestions?

Note: The camera does not have a warranty on it, therefore the company isn't liable for what happened to the camera.
Added (1). It's not the compartment itself, I'm sorry for my inaccurate explanation.It's a small clip that held the compartment shut on the inside when you slide the door back into place. The door itself is king of spring loaded.

IPhoto pictures disappearing after I edit them?

I double click on a picture to edit it, then edit it, then click done and press ESC to see all my photos. When I double click on the photo I edited to bring it to a bigger screen like it was before, the picture appears for a second then goes black. And If I try to move the picture to the computer desktop, the file is empty. How can I stop this from happening? I hate losing my pictures. Can it be reversed?

It's probably about time I my own camera. I was thinking about getting an expensive DSLR camera or something similar, but then I came across an add for this.http://shop.nikonusa.com/store/nikonusa/en_US/pd/productID.236005400?merch=ashton_AW100_BuyNow_Top. Its the Coolpix AW100
I can buy direct from Nikon for $280, or I can buy from Amazon and get it for about $200.

I've used the Coolpix models before and I love them.My mom has owned the Coolpix L20 and Coolpix L24. They're pretty good cameras if you know how to use them.

Anyway, I've been reading some of the reviews on Amazon and they seem to be giving good marks for the camera.

I just want yall's opinions on this camera and if any owners have experienced problems or if you know of any I'd like to know. I believe one guy had rotten luck and the camera failed to keep out water several times. I do a lot of camping and bike riding.

As of right now the only cameras I own is the poor 3mp camera on my phone, a disassembled 4mp camera, and my DSi. I have to keep asking my mother for her camera.

I probably will buy this camera regardless. Unless I hear something like "the image sensor dies after a year" or something similar to that guy's problem on Amazon.

So if there are any photography/camera nuts out there, what do you think of this camera?

I want a camera that can take great quality pictures, compatible, perfect for self-portraits (articulating screen), and does what any SLR camera does.My dad recommends the Nikon d5100 just because it's a SLR camera and it takes better pictures than the Nikong Coolpix p770 and the Canon Powershot g12. However, I just feel that the Nikon d5100 body is too big for me to put it in my bag and bring whole camera with me everywhere. Then there's the Canon Powershot g12 and the Nikon Coolpix p7700. From all the reviews and "hands-on" videos, both of those cameras seem to meet my needs in a camera that I really want.My dad feels that the Canon g12 is a good camera, but it's pretty old (2010) and he believes that i can find a newer camera similar to the g12. That's when he found the Nikon Coolpix p7700. I don't know much about cameras since i'm just a starter (and only 16), but I think the Nikon p7700 could be the one. BUT, it's expensive ($499)

Please tell me your recommendations! I want to get one before Christmas week so I can take my own pictures and not bother my dad to constantly email me his pictures; i'm tired of taking pictures from my phone as well.

SD Card wont stay in Nikon camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix P500 and for some reason the SD card wont go in.It was working perfectly fine a couple of days ago until I took it out to import the images onto my computer and when I tried to put it back, it just wont "click" and keeps popping out when ever I try to push it in,

I already know for definite that it's not the card that's the problem, because today I went out to buy a new one and even that one wont go in.

Can anybody help me out and offer some advice? This is urgent as I need it for college.

Camcorder 120fps 1080p?

I looked a lot on the internet now and most of the cameras that i saw reduced their resolution when more fps were added; for example the "Nikon s9100". I saw another one, the "Sony HDR-SR11" which records at 720p in slow motion, but 1080p regularly. Can someone suggest me a camcorder which can record 120 frames per second, still keeping a 1920*1080p resolution.PS: which costs less/around €1000.

Nikon Coolpix S8200 problems. :?

I recently received a early birthday present from my dad,… Nikon Coolpix S8200! I was sooo excited when he took me to best buy! So anyways, when he took me there we looked at the camera, asked the manager if they had any left in stock. Since they luckily did, they gave us the camera all new and in the plastic security thingy. But anyways, later I went home and opened it up, my dad and I read the manual and turned it on.So I wanted to take some test videos and pictures to see how the quality was, when I tried to take a video it only let me record for 25 seconds, then when I took a second video it only let me record for 13 secs (on a timer) the third time I tried it said memory was too full. I repeated this process about a thousand times, still no difference. Then I tried to take a picture two times and then the memory was full D: So, either it has HORRIBLE capacity or there is something wrong with it. Maybe I can buy a bigger memory card, but their is NO compartment for a memory card only a compartment for the lithium battery.So my question is, what should I do? Thanks for reading! Btw: Don't be rude or annoying because I don't know much about technical stuff, I'm only 12 years old.

What waterproof camera would be best for use in a cold creek?

I was wanting to take some underwater pictures in my creek next summer, it's pretty cold in it- never warmer than 50 degrees. The deepest part is 7 feet, the water is a little murky, but not awful.
A good waterproof camera that won't break easily would be perfect! I was looking at a Nikon Coolpix AW100, but apparently the seal on them is no good… ? So I'm not sure now… what would you reccomend?

Problems with Nikon CoolPix L19 memory?

Okay the problem is the SD memory card I've been using for months stopped working out of the blue one day, and hasn't worked since. Why isn't my Panorama Maker 5 opening?

I have a Nikon COOLPIX S6100 camera I received for Christmas last year and it came with two CD's. One of them was to install ViewNX 2 (An application to view photos taken on the camera. When you inserted that CD it installed that application plus Panorama Maker 5. When I first installed it, both programs worked perfectly fine, but I only used the programs that one time. Now, I would like to use the Panorama Maker 5 program, but it will not work properly. Every time I click the icon to open it or open the file location to open it, it will not open at all and has no error message or anything. I tried to re-install it but it said that I had to close the program first. That's when I got confused because I didn't see it open ANYWHERE, like it was hidden or something. I had to shut down my computer and then turn it back open to re-install it. Now it is re-installed but it's doing the same thing.It will not open… or it is open, but it is hidden somehow and I cannot find it. Please help.

Nikon coolpix L105 or GE X500 pro series?

I am expecting my first child in May and I am looking for a good digital camera that will take good pictures and that will last a few years. I have found a few on sale on Black Friday two of them being the NIKON COOLPIX L105 DIGITAL CAMERA at Target for $99 and then the GE X500 Power Pro Series Digital Camera for $149.99 at Kmart. Does anyone have any advice on which one would be a better deal for what I am looking for?

Choppy Video on My Computer?

Whenever I take videos on my camera (Nikon CoolPix) and upload to my computer, they play really choppy. When I play the videos on camera they come out clear, and normal. But when I upload them to my computer and play them back they come out slow, and all messed up. Anyone know why?

Im looking to get a new compact digital camera, Nothing fancy im not a professional or anything !! Anyway i dont actually know much about them but my previous camera was a lumix panasonic Dmc type. My Nikon Coolpix p500 isn't reading my memory card?

Hi, I've been using the same memory card for my Coolpix P500 since I got it, and all of a sudden, my camera has been storing the pictures I take to the internal memory on the camera, instead of the memory card.It doesn't even appear to be reading the card. I formatted the memory on the card, the camera, made sure the card wasn't locked, and even tried using a new memory card. None of those things worked. Can anyone help me?

I have a Nikon Coolpix S3300 camera, and when I am recording a video, most cameras i see automatically focus on the subject when it is up close. Mine doesnt do this, it is just average.

Why does my sd card have blank files after i remove it from my laptop?

After I took some pictures with my camera I inserted the SD card into my laptop to save them. When i removed it from my laptop i went back to look at the pictures and some are blank with the words "file contains no image." I was wondering if this is a sign that I have a virus or if somethings wrong with my camera. Its a Nikon coolpix I got like 5 years ago.

What camera to purchase?

I'm looking for a camera that helps take clear cut candid shots (good focus) and strong low-light pictures. I work a lot with landscapes (hazy, cloudy weather) and busy portraits.

I had a Sony DSC-H3, it was good for bright outdoor pictures, but nothing else. I just purchased a Nikon P510 but it takes far too long to focus as well as O. K. low light pictures.

So to sum it up: Good low light & strong focus. Speed is good :) Any price range. Any model.

What camera is good for low light & more?

I'm looking for a camera that can take very good low light pictures. I'd like the camera to be fairly quick as well. Also, when talking candid shots, I'd like for a camera that focuses sharply.

Does it come with some sort of charger, a USB cable, battery, and lens cap? I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm more than likely ordering from Amazon.

I'm thinking about buying a Kodak EasyShare Z981, or a Nikon Coolpix L810. Can you change the lens filters on either of these? If not is there any camera under $250 that i can change the filters on?

I bought a 4GB SDHC card for my Nikon CoolPix 4.1 MP Camera. How many pictures should this card approximately hold? We will have a few videos as we are going to be taking pictures and videos of my labor and of the baby after!

How to upload a Video to Youtube?

I have a camera, Nikon Coolpix L18 and everytime i seem to save it to my computer and just try to upload it straight onto youtube, it never works… What do i have to do for it to work, Im pissed i waited a half an hour for it to finish uploading for it to tell me it was unable to and it does this all the time… I need some good help, Pleasee?

Added (1). The optical adjust button on my new Nikon Coolpix P7100 has stopped working all of sudden for unknown reason. Would anyone enlighten me why and how to fix the issue?
