I've had my Coolpix for a while now, but I can't seem to find out if it has a self timer? … and I can see what is on the camera but I want to be able to record what's on the TV that is on a different input like the HDMI for the sat.and the PS3. I do not have an HDMI for the camera yet.So my questions are, does it matter if I don't use the HDMI for the camera at the same time the HDMI is being used for the PS3? What is ViewNX 2? Can this camera software be downloaded twice (different computers)?

My camera, a Nikon Coolpix S3300, comes with a disc that is called "ViewNX 2" and it is supposedly required to be able to store pictures from my camera to a computer. I have to download it or something.Is that what the ViewNX 2 is?

And, can I use the same disc to download the software onto two different computers? Thanks.

Nikon coolpix wont turn on!

My l810 was working perfectly until yesterday. When I turned it on, the lens came out, and the light turned on for about 5 seconds, the lcd screen never lit up, and the camera appeared to be off with the lens still out. Now, when I press the power button, the light goes on for about 5 seconds, and nothing happens. I have tried replacing batteries, plugging it into the PC, and plugging it in to the TV.Is there a way to fix this?

I here these might be the batteries… What batteries work good with nikons!!!

How to focus a digital camera?

I've seen on YouTube where youtubers focus their camera on something specific. (Name of a makeup on a bottle, etc) It is not always on SLR cameras but digital ones. I have a Nikon Coolpix L26 and I was wondering how to focus the camera specifically for when I am recording. (If I were trying to show words on a paper. I could focus it so it isn't blurry and the words could be read perfectly.) Thanks for answering!

Nikon coolpix battery charging HELP!

I lost the battery charger for my camera but I have the plug in for the computer/wall. I just plugged my camera into the wall using a usb wall-plug converter for an i-pod/i-pad and the light on the camera is on.My battery is not dead so I have no idea if it is charging. Nikon P2 Coolpix Camera - Making me Crazy! Pictures are dark and many are blurred?

I have a Nikon Coolpix P2 camera. I have to stand 3 feet away from my subject in order to get a flash picture to come out right. Outside it takes great pics but indoors it sucks big time! Does anyone have any advice?

I have tried working with the settings, I have tried calling Nikon (they told me to reset to factory settings - duh!).

The "scene" settings are much to ambigious. They almost never fit the situation and besides who in the heck wants to be fumbling for a setting when all you want to do is take a picture!

I got this camera as a gift - it was a welcome and wonderful gift however, it is turning into a nightmare as I struggle beyond words to "operate" this very disappointing camera.

My Nikon S9300 camera will not read any of my SD cards that used to work in it?

Earlier today my sister decided to put her memory card from her camera into my one. Ever since she has done that, now any memory card I put into my camera pops up with an error message saying that it is not compatible or cannot be read. Both my memory cards worked fine before that and I didnt have any problems. I have formatted both memory cards now, reset the camera and formatted its memory and the same error messages keep popping up when I insert them. When I turn my camera on it just flickers black and white, the green light turns on but then it just turns off again. I'm not sure if it;s the rechargable battery or the camera itself? This won't happen without it being plugged in, it just stays off.

What does 'SORLST' and 'NCFL' mean in my camera's folders? HELP :?

When I open my camera's folders (I have a Nikon 12.2 megapixel Coolpix camera) to view pictures, I see 3 folders: DCIM, MISC, and NCFL.
DCIM and MISC have my pictures, while NCFL just has a link to an (internet explorer) 'SORLST'
I downloaded SORLST but it won't open so does anyone know what it stands for or what it could be? or do you know why i can't open it? Every time i click to open it, a window opens, then closes really quickly, then an option comes up to save or open (this happens over and over again)

My Nikon Coolpix S4300 only record 8 minutes of video?

I recently got a Nikon Coolpix S4300 and I have an 8 GB memory card. However, for some reason it will only record 8 minutes and 11 seconds of video at one time. I only have two pictures on there so it isn't that the space is being used up.

Anyone know why this is?

Thin, lightweight camera?

I am looking into a new camera… I had (have) a Nikon coolpix 24 that I HATE. The pictures never turn out well, and the camera is thick and chunky. I am interested in something that is slimmer, and lightweight (I want something I can take on a 10 day trip to Europe) I really don't want to have to worry about getting a plug adapter, so it would be nice if it took AA or AAA batteries (but in the end, thats not a deciding factor)
Anything that you recommend, or think I should steer away from, let me know! I'm looking to spend $100- 150, ish.

How to open a DSC file on my computer?

First off, I would like to explain that I don't really have a normal computer. I have a Samsung Chromebook. (Second generation I believe) Therefore, I can't download regular programs to open up these DSC files because there isn't regular software like Windows on it.It runs basically off the web.
I just got this new Nikon Coolpix camera, but I can't open the pictures on my Chromebook.Is there any Google Chrome extension or app I can use to open this? Or is there some other trick?

What is going on with my Nikon Coolpix L810?

I recently received this camera as an upgrade from a standard digital camera. However, I was disappointed with the lack of improvement. The picture is grainy, noisy, and just overall very poor.So I looked online for a reviews and solutions, but the reviews claimed the camera is great! Which is the opposite of my experience with it. I did read a few things that said that it just loses quality in low light, but I don't see any difference between low light and when I'm outdoors or using flash.

Is it only me with this issue? Or should I take it back and get a different camera.

My photos are always a poor quality?

About a year or two ago, I got this purple Coolpix S3000 camera for my birthday.It was really hard to get a photo that didnt end up blurry, even if it was on a tripod. For Christmas this year, I recieved another camera, which is a Coolpix S3200.To me, it's seems exactly the same as my old one, but everybody says it's supposed to take really good pictures. I tried it and the photos turn out either blurry, or much brighter than it should be.Is it maybe the way I hold the camera, or the autofocus? I feel really bad accepting this gift if it's the same as my old camera. Can anybody help me know how to take better pictures?

Advice on buying a camera?

I finally raised up some money to buy a good camera. All I know is that I should look for higher MP but now apparently MP doesn't matter as much, so I thought I'd ask for help, I would like to make a good choice. I've heard of the Canon Powershot and the Nikon Coolpix and the Sony Cyber-Shot and the Samsung Dualview or other cameras. SLR cameras are too expensive, I need a camera that is $200 or lower, any recommendations please? Too many brands and models and I am not very savvy on photography, so I'd like some help. I'll be using this camera probably to take family photos, self-portraits to edit on Photoshop, profile pictures, etc. What would you recommend ?

There is a small pink string in my camera lens, what should I do?

I have recently purchased a Nikon Coolpix P510. Somehow, there is a small pink string inside the lens. I don't believe the string is affecting the picture quality, but I am afraid that it may later move into the center of the lens, therefore, affecting the picture. Good bridge Camera Under 300$? Nikon L120 or Kodak Z891?

I'm looking for a camera for around 300 Dollars. I'd like to use something more powerful than a point and shoot, like a bridge or compact system camera with a super zoom lens. One camera that stood out to me in store was the Nikon Coolpix L120. But online, I found the Kodak Easyshare 7891.
It seems like the Kodak comes with a view finder while the Nikon has a high res screen with no viewfinder. From the Specs I've read it seems like the Kodak can take higher quality pictures( I think?) but it's bigger and heavier( though I haven't seen it). I think of Nikon being a nice brand though. I need some help!

What are the red numbers at the bottom of my camera?

I have a Nikon L310. Whenever I'm about to take a picture with it, and I'm focusing it, red numbers pop up at the bottom.It only happens when the lighting is bad or the focus is bad. How to format my SD Memory Card for a Nikon L810 Camera?

I have a new Nikon L810 digital camera, and have just fired it up. A new SD card is is in the camera. Upon startup, the screen tells me the card is not formatted and asks if I want it formatted. I select "Yes", and receive the normal warning that any information on the card will be deleted (no problem). Memory card advice for a camera?

Hi folks. Just bought my daughter a Nikon P510 for Christmas and forgot to get a memory card to go with it. When I check them online there are 100's of different types of the buggers lol. Obviously I know about size (prob need an 8 or 16gb) but I'm a bit stuck after that. Does any standard memory card work? There are ones in Maplins for about a tenner up to £80 or £100… No point paying that if a tenner will do the same job but obviously I'm missing the point???

Nixon Coolpix L810 Pop-Up Flash Malfunction?

I have a Nikon Coolpix L810 and when the pop-up flash is raised, the camera does not recognize the flash as being raised. Obviously, the only way to use the flash is when the flash is pop-upped so I'm not sure what the problem is. We tried resetting to factory settings but it's still not recognizing it as being raised. What camera is best for me?

I currently have a Nikon Coolpix, but I'm studying abroad in Europe this spring and will be traveling a lot, so I'd like to upgrade. Pretty sure I want the Nikon Coolpix L810 but I stumbled upon the Canon sx160is and I wasn't sure which one is better. A Nikon Coolpix s3200 has 16megapixels but a 10megapixel Nikon that costs $200 more gives better picture quality.

My Nikon Coolpix s4000 isn't charging?

Okay so, I've had this camera for a wile. I lost my charger and I got a new one today. I plugged it up the way you're supposed to. The Cord into the adapter then the adapter into the wall, then the cord into the camera. Well, the LED light that tells you its charging blinks for a few seconds then stops. When I plug it into my computer it does the same thing, and on the thing that pops up it says the battery is 2% what is wrong with my camera? Is my battery just to dead? Will it fix it if I get a new battery? Please help.

I'm looking to buy a new digital camera and I would really like to have a better camera than the [extremely] old point and shoot that I have. I would really prefer to keep the price around the $250-300 range.
There are a few things that I'm looking for though: I'm going to be taking a lot of action shots so I need something with a quick shutter speed (preferably manual adjustable), and I would really like something with a high ISO. Higher megapixels, zoom and more manual control would be nice too.

Nikon Coolpix (S3100) won't focus?

Initially the screen cracked but the camera was still able to take photos. I brought a new screen and replaced it, since then the screen looks grainy and the pictures come out fuzzy… Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Nikon p510 wont charge?

I got a Nikon p510 a few days ago its been working fine charging and connecting to pc ect. I charge it this morning and went out to shoot some pics of wildlife. When i got home and tried to connect it to the pc nothing happened so i tried the charger to see if it would charge and nothing.the on/off button lights up like it should but no charge light and nothing happens when i connect it to pc.

Where is my dad hiding my presents?

It is in slow motion regardless of what settings i set my editing software on and deletes the audio.

Nikon Coolpix s3000 not turning on, battery problem?

Bought this camera in 2010, and it lasted just a few days before the flash stopped working. I didn't keep the receipt and just left it for about two years. A few months ago I finally decided to send it to Nikon and pay the charge to fix the flash. Got it back, charged it worked fine. Brought it with me on a trip but forgot the memory card so I didn't use it. After a month I've tried turning it on and it won't and when I plug it in to charge nothing happens. I cannot decide between these two cameras as I''ve already skimmed through some reviews. But I
am personally leaning towards a Canon sx50 due to the reviews that I've read and since I already own a NIKON DSLR D80 I wanted to give Canon a shot since I fell in love with the image quality that my friend's canon dslr photos takes. I'm not planning to go for a dslr since I wanted something lightweight and easy to carry around rather than having to carry my D80 with me all the time and it's so heavy! Also I know I should not be comparing a dslr camera quality to these cameras because Dslrs do produce much more of a richer photos but I just wanted something light and that still takes great quality photos that's a close call from a DSLR, and a great battery life. I also wanted to stray away from a digital point and shoot camera as It's durability doesn't last at all that long for me like my Sony cybershot so I am looking for a good replacement.So far from reading some reviews I've learned that…

Why would my video not play?

I shot a video on my Nikon Coolpix S3000 and I transferred it to my computer, but it won't play, an error message pops up every time I try to play it and says "no video device was detected" I really don't understand because the video is recorded already why does it need a video device? How to choose a new camera?

I've looked on this site, and several others, and don't feel like I'm finding the answers I'm looking for.

I've had Kodak Point-and-Shoots for years and was very happy with them overall. However, they were lousy in low light and action scenes. With small children and pets that won't sit still that I would like to photograph… I purchased an Nikon Coolpix L810 thinking it was a bridge camera (someone here on another post told me it wasn't). Bottom line, it sucks. I thought I did a lot of research prior to that purchase, but I still missed something somewhere.So, I'm looking for a replacement.

This is my hobby that, while I am serious about it, don't expect to parlay it into a career. I need a longer zoom, as my daughter skates and I wanted a good camera to be able to photograph her from the stands. Built in flash, decent battery life (one positive I can say for the Nikon is that it doesn't eat batteries like my last Kodak did), uses SDHC memory cards, good in low-light situations, good action shots, under $250 preferred.

If you cannot advise on a particular model, can you comment on a brand I should gravitate toward? I'm leaning on trying a Canon this time, but wonder what others have experienced.

I'm wanting to purchase a Nikon Coolpix camera but I'm not sure which one's are best… I'm wanting something that's good at picking up details on small intricate items but I also want something that's great for taking long distance pictures like scenic pictures of the night sky. I'm wanting something around 12MP - I've looked at the L100 and the S6100 but I'm just not in touch with cameras!

Comparison between Nikon L810 and Canon Powershot SX500?

Earlier this year, I decided to upgrade my Kodak Point-and-Shoot to a bridge camera. I wanted the SuperZoom, plus the ability to take action shots, shots in low light, and have more options as to the quality of the photos. I am a hobbiest, not a pro by any means. I primarily take action photos (sports), photos of my children, photos of my pets, and outdoor scenery.

I bought a Nikon Coolpix L810 (June 2012) and HATE IT.My shots are always blurry, whether I use a tripod or just hold the camera. Outdoors, the colors are rich and lush. Inside, the photos are grainy and too warm in tone. The zoom never wants to focus at full zoom; sometimes the shutter won't engage. I frequently miss shots because of those two reasons. The flash is either Auto or Off -- many times the flash doesn't even go off, even though I know I'm in a low light situation. I've tried different settings (all preset, no manual controls) and nothing seems to help.

I was looking at a Canon Powershot SX500 as a replacement. I hate to spend the money (my budget was around $200 when I bought the Nikon; this camera runs about $250) but I'm so unhappy with the Nikon (I have only owned Kodaks before this).

Can anyone help with what I should do here? Would the Canon be a better camera or would it be about the same and I'd be in the same boat that I am now? Thanks.

Nikon P510 or Nikon D3100?

I'm getting my first camera for my birthday. I love taking pictures. But I can't decide between these two. I've previously used our family canon 600d which is great. These two nikons are also around the same price where I live. I love the p510's zoom but the other is a dslr which obviously means better images? Help!

Hi… I really want a new camera. Right now I have a little nikon coolpix s1 and its just not doin it for me anymore. Can I use my camera while its charging?

There's an outlet that has a usb port which plugs into the camera.so basically my camera charges by plugging it into an outlet (and it could charge when plugged into a computer as well).
No the battery doesnt come out and go into a seperate outlet/charger thingy (it probably could tho, if i had one of those things).

Tricks to using Nikon Coolpix S9300?

I've had this camera for 6 months now. I have never been really pleased with the way the pictures are taken. Mostly because I payed the SLR price for a camera that isn't, well, an SLR. What's the most affordable DSLR camera?

What are the lowest costing digital SLR cameras out there? I'm looking for an SLR camera for Christmas.My mom won't spend over $300 though (I might be able to bargain with her though if it's a really good deal) The lowest price I'm seeing for SLRs is in the $500 range. What are the cheapest DSLRs out there? I'm not looking for professional quality, I just think SLRs are much better quality.So an "okay" SLR is probably better than my little digital Nikon Coolpix which takes pictures with terrible lighting.

Taking pictures with a bright background?

I have a Nikon Cool Pix L120 or 130, I forgot, it has a 21x zoom. But anyway, I attempted to photograph my daughters last night at a dance recital and the pictures were all inadequate! The room is dark but the stage is brightly lit of course. I tried Night Scene, Indoor Party Scene (which turned out better than them all) but none of them were clean and crisp… Can anyone help with what setting to use?

Need Help buying a Camera?

I'm stuck between 3200D & 5100D I read many reviews & now im really confused both have mixed results, any how im inclined to go for 5100D but if there is an expert out there please help me out.

My interests are simple I don't do photo shoots but I want a good camera whenever I go on a trip I want to take some good pictures & my friends tell me I have a good eye for photography, having said that I'm sometimes not impressed with my Nikon L120 (current) performances in certain cases which led me to this decision.

I would also like your recommendation on a lens, a decent one that can cover short & far distance for some time so I can save up money to buy a new lens in good time.

My camera can't read sd card anymore?

I have nikon coolpix s6100, it can read sd cards just fine back then. Now it says card cannot be used. I don't know why this is showing, the sd card isn't locked and i tried to use different sd cards. I even bought a new sd card and it still gives me the same error. Formatting doesn't work either.

How long can my camera battery film for?

I own a Nikon Coolpix P500 and the battery that came with it is a Nikon Lithium Battery Pack EN-EL5 3.7V 1100mAh. I have no idea what any of that means but I was wondering if this battery would be sufficient enough for me to film for 12 straight hours on. Singing Voice sounds childish when recorded?

Whenever I sing is sounds good. How sensitive is a bridge camera?

I would like to know how sensitive a bridge camera really is. I'm not talking about dropping it from high ground, i guess this would be catastrophic but I'm talking about shakes and situations like having it in a backpack and running. I always have mine (Nikon P510) like a baby, I try not to scratch it, not to shake it or stuff like that.Is there any great risk for the lens to get misplaced or any "moving part" inside? I'm asking that because bridge cameras are not like compact and look more alike with a dslr(big and heavy). Why Does my Nikon Coolpix L310 only record 29 minutes of video?

I purchased a Nikon CoolPix L310 yesterday and without a memory card it only records 2 minutes of video.So i purchased an 8GB Sandisk Memory card, and I was told it would allow me to record up to 2 hours maximum of video footage? Help which camera! Nikon vs Panasonic Lumix?

I need to buy a new camera my old one is horrendous last year I was in new York and all pictures at night or in dark came out black with a tiny speckle of light so my pics of the tree were non exsistent :(

Can't focus on object with Nikon D7000? Any advice with settings?

I've been trying to figure out how to use my Nikon D7000, I can't manage to get a clear photo. What happens is I'll get a clear shot but the edges of the item well get blurred out. The background is always blurry, there's probably something I'm doing wrong. Any advice on the settings? I've attached two photo's, those were the best I could do.

I figured out how to play with the zoom and focus, but the only thing is: Lens' focusing screen is few times smaller than canon focusing screen. I can get from Amazon, so, as I guess, projected image will be small and with my Sony camera, I'll have to zoom more on the focusing screen.
So the question is: Is the quality of focusing screen that good, so if I zoom in on it, it won't reduce quality of an image?

My coolpix p100 will not turn on.?

I have a coolpix p100 that will not turn on. When i plug it in, the charging light flashes orange like it is charging but when I press the power button nothing happens. The camera turns on. I can tell because it makes a noise when it turns on. The on button turns green for a couple of seconds and then turns off.So i cannot see anything on the screen. I can take a picture but i can't view the picture afterwards or delete pictures right from the camera. If i take the sd card and plug it into the computer but that is the only way to see the pictures,
Can anyone help me out with this problem? I really do not want to get a brand new camera (I just purchased this camera about a month ago)
