Any camera tips or advice for starting a YouTube channel?

So, for starters I chose on more of a blogging channel ( not much different from other YouTubers such as Conner Franta, Danisnotonfire, AmazingPhil, Caspar, etc.) but I have been stuck with a few setbacks that leave me a bit overwhelmed.

The first problem I have been confronted with is my camera choice. A few years back, I bought myself for strictly photography purposes. This camera was none other than the Nikon Coolpix L820. I spent around $200 for this camera, not including the tripod or means of carrying it in a specialized bag. I do not wish to spend any more money to buy another camera or something of the sorts if not necessary. This camera does not have flip screen, sadly, which is a key element when it comes to filming yourself. Is there any advice for a makeshift flip screen or do I defiantly need a different camera?

My second setback would be an editing program. I am not too worried about this because I do plan to buy the Adobe Premier Pro video editing program sometime in the near future and I do have experience with some video editing for friends. I have to admit, it is a bit pricey for someone who is just starting a channel (around $300 ) but I absolutely LOVE the effects they provide for your videos. Is there any suggestions of another program around the same price or possibly cheaper with equal or better quality?

If you would like to throw any tips in there from experience go ahead. The more the merrier! These tips do not have to relate to the two questions
