Nikon Coolpix L105, turns on but then turns immediatley back off, help?

So recently I have been searching the internet in hopes to find any information on the Nikon Coolpix L105 however there is hardly any at all- still unsure as to why. A few months my camera had been smacked down onto my dining room table (by accident) and the LCD screen had cracked therefore since there is no viewfinder on this particular camera I couldn't take any photos. So I took the camera apart myself and spent weeks trying to find an LCD that appeared the exact same and finally found one. I ordered it and it came in today so I took my camera apart and inserted it the same way as the old one had been inserted. Now originally (before taking out its original LCD once it had cracked) the lens would still extend out of the barrel but after I had taken it apart and put it back together now the lens will not move at all when I turn the camera on. I turn the camera on and the green light comes on for a second but there is nothing happening or lighting up on (what is now the NEW) LCD screen and the lens will not extend or move either. I am trying to save money by repairing myself because I am in the process of buying a Nikon D3100 since I'm a professional photographer but I would really like to fix this point and shoot Nikon. It is originally from Target but the receipt is expired (of course) and they have no materials to fix it. Should I take it in to Geek Squad? Could it be that although this new LCD screen is brand new and is the same dimensions and size as the original that it still may not be compatible with this particular camera? Because when I was searching for a replacement LCD no screen came up with any reference to the Coolpix L105 but this is the only one I found that was compatible with the Coolpix L100, L18 and P90 that had the same exact qualities as its original so I put it in the camera. Could it be that something is jamming the lens? Because it will not move at all when I press the on button. When I do press the on button and hold down the OK button it does make a beeping sound but nothing appears on the screen either. No screen or lens activity is occurring but the camera turns on and then immediately turns itself off. I don't know which part of the camera is having issues. A jamming of the lens or the fact that even though this LCD appeared to look and fit exactly the same as its original it may still not be compatible. Help? Suggestions?

Any advice for a Camera?

I'm planning on buying a camera, I'm not looking to buy an expensive $1000 dslr cameras or not a single shot cheap $100 camera. I'm going on vacation this summer and wanted a camera that's fairly good, I don't know much about cameras, so can someone fill me in on the details and what would be good for me?

I was thinking something like this:

Added (1). @Elvis - Alright but should that Canon be compared to the Nikon p510 i posted?

Nikon P510 vs Panasonic FZ150? More MP and more ZOOM vs filters, external flash and RAW?

This will be my first camera, but I want a good one. I don't have the money for a DSLR so I will go for a bridge. The Nikon is a 16MP BSI CMOS with 42x optical zoom with the image quality second only to the panasonic but not by much. The panasonic is more expensive and is said to have the better image quality. It has only 12MP and only 24x zoom though, supports RAW, supports external flash, external microphone and you can fit filters on the lens.So the panasonic seems to be a more complete camera but as an amateur I just can't go for the lower MP and zoom. Maybe with teleconversion lens I can achieve the zoom of the nikon but how costly will that be?
Added (1). I am not into serious photography. I don't want to spent more for an slr but I don't expect slr quality either. I just want to get the best for the price I pay. And by the way there are official panasonic lenses specially for the fz150 so it IS designed for extra filters and few lenses. People say between the two brands they'd take the nikon but the panasonic is so much feature-rich and gets almost any way better reviews.
