Shopping for a new camera.?

I'm not trying to become a professional photographer by any means I just want a camera that takes GOOD pictures at a reasonable price. I've narrowed it down to a few please give me your recommendations

Advice on a Digital Camera to buy?

At the moment I own a Nikon coolpix L810, but I'm looking to moving up another step. I take pictures and do like to video, so I would like both features to have good quality. Under 800 dollars, but more than 150. I was looking at the Nikon 1 J2 camera, and I saw that the reviews said it had both good quality for picture and video. Would you recommend this camera or something else? I take pictures of everything.

My camera can't read sd card anymore?

I have nikon coolpix s6100, it can read sd cards just fine back then. Now it says card cannot be used. I don't know why this is showing, the sd card isn't locked and i tried to use different sd cards. I even bought a new sd card and it still gives me the same error. Formatting doesn't work either.
