When I connect the camera to the computer through the included wire, the computer doesn't even make the "two tone" sound that a piece of external hardware has been attached. It doesn't recognize the camera at all. It does not show up in My Computer either. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium.
Another weird thing is also happening. I have 4 USB ports on my laptop and when I put the camera wire into a USB port next to the port where I have my external hard drive connected, the hard drive turns off. Is this whole thing a power issue? Is there too much power coming through this camera wire? When I try to insert the camera wire into the other USB ports on my computer, it just doesn't work… Period. Nothing goes off (like my wireless mouse), which is good i guess, but the computer still just doesn't do anything… Doesn't recognize the hardware attached, doesn't open auto-play, nothing shows up in My Computer, etc…
Please don't tell me to get a card reader as the solution please. I have about 5 pictures in the internal memory of the camera that I want to get off of it. This isn't a memory card issue. Also, there is no way on the camera to transfer from the internal memory of the camera to the memory card. Any other solutions would be appreciated… If there is one.
