Nikon Coolpix L820 help?

I just bought a new Nikon Coolpix L820, when I first set it up I was able to take a few pictures without any problems. Now it won't take any! I press the shutter release button and the red light flashes but it doesn't take the picture. What am I doing wrong? I'm trying to test it out before using it tomorrow.
Added (1). The batteries are brand new, the screen shows full battery also. It doesn't have anything in the manual besides what the buttons are.

How to edit vintage/grunge pictures?

I want to edit pictures to make them look slightly grunge/vintage. Something like these:
