I shot a video on my Nikon Coolpix S3000 and I transferred it to my computer, but it won't play, an error message pops up every time I try to play it and says "no video device was detected" I really don't understand because the video is recorded already why does it need a video device? It was an WMV file. Can someone help me? Why won't this play?

How to choose a new camera?
I've looked on this site, and several others, and don't feel like I'm finding the answers I'm looking for.
I've had Kodak Point-and-Shoots for years and was very happy with them overall. However, they were lousy in low light and action scenes. With small children and pets that won't sit still that I would like to photograph… I purchased an Nikon Coolpix L810 thinking it was a bridge camera (someone here on another post told me it wasn't). Bottom line, it sucks. I thought I did a lot of research prior to that purchase, but I still missed something somewhere. So, I'm looking for a replacement.
This is my hobby that, while I am serious about it, don't expect to parlay it into a career. I need a longer zoom, as my daughter skates and I wanted a good camera to be able to photograph her from the stands. Built in flash, decent battery life (one positive I can say for the Nikon is that it doesn't eat batteries like my last Kodak did), uses SDHC memory cards, good in low-light situations, good action shots, under $250 preferred.
If you cannot advise on a particular model, can you comment on a brand I should gravitate toward? I'm leaning on trying a Canon this time, but wonder what others have experienced.
Thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is COOLPIX L810 NIKON worth buying?
Is COOLPIX L810 NIKON worth buying? Here at stores around where I live they sell for 175€ or in dollars for 230$.
I just want a camera that will last for some time - few years and will take pretty good pictures. But I have two lenses lying around at home (CANON ZOOM LENS EF 80-200mm 1:4.5-5.6 ULTRASONIC and CANON ZOOM LENS EF 35-80mm 1:4-5.6 ULTRASONIC) so maybe I should buy some other camera that will fit those lenses? I don't want to give a fortune for a digital camera.
Thanks for your answers in advance.
Added (1). Which digital camera do you recommend me to buy in the same price range?
