How to take nice photos on Nikon s4100?

I've had this camera for about three years now and I have no idea how to take decent photos. They usually come out blurry. Anyone have any tips? Or how I should set up my camera?

Having Problems with my nikon coolpix L310?

I have had the Nikon Coolpix L310 camera for a few months now and all of the sudden it has begun shutting off without me pressing the off button. When I go to hit the take picture button, it makes the camera noise and then the lense goes it and the camera goes off. Any ideas why this is happening? It also shows up saying battery exhausted sometimes, but the batteries are new. Help?
