Advice or tips on buying a used camera from someone online?

I'm meeting a stranger who lives near me tomorrow to buy her used Nikon Coolpix L820. New it's $200, I plan to buy it for $100. What are some things I should check to be sure I'm not getting scammed?

I'm meeting in a public place and bringing my mom with me. I'm going to turn the camera on a take a picture to be sure it works, anything else I should do?

What is the standard DSRL megapixel rage?

I have a 14 megapixel Nikon COOLPIX L120 which I really like. Unfortunately, It is a point and shoot. I need a DSLR for a photography so I picked up a old 8 megapixel DLSR. I was wondering what the average was for a DSLR because I know the more the MP, the more it cost.

My nikon coolpix s9100 is frozen.help!

I got the camera this past christmas and it has worked fine up till a couple weeks ago. The screen is frozen and i cant anything to work and the only way to shut it off is to take out the battery because even the power button doesnt work. Any ideas on how to fix it? If not im gunna go see if i can get my money back because this is just ridiculous.

How to take better pictures in the dark with a nikon coolpix s4000?

I have a nikon coolpix s4000 and last night I went to a graduation and couldn't get any good pictures in the dark room. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried turning off the flash and playing with some of the setting but I didn't have a tripod so I was looking for ways to make the picture come out clear and bright but I had no luck. Any help will be much appreciated!

Prime focus astrophotography?

Could my Nikon coolpix p5100 camera be used for prime focus astrophotography? I'm sure it cannot if yes how? It is a nice camera 12.1 megapixels. Is Afocal astrophotography my only alternative? I'll be purchasing soon a Orion ED80T CF Triplet and it looks like another camera what do you suggest?

My memory card for my camera cant be read?

Im using a SanDisk sdhc 8gb class 2 memory card in my Nikon Coolpix p80.ive been using it all day and its been fine. After running out of room, i decided to go through and delete about 3/4(over 1000) of my pics.still takes pictures just fine.later in the evening, while trying to take more pics, the cam went into auto hibernate mode or whatever you wanna call it. I tried turning it back on, but it was stuck, so i just forced it off.afterwords, my camera now says the card cannot be read and when i try to plug it into my laptop, nothing happens. WHen i try to open it through Computer and the drive, it just loads and says it isnt responding

can anyone help me out with this?

I need a new camera for action shots?

I currently have a Nikon coolpix S4000 but it doesn't take very good action shots. I am putting this here because I will be using the camera to take pictures of Horses and their riders at work. This includes Jumping, flying leads, barrels, and speed shots. I was just wondering what cameras you have or know of that take really good action shot. I will also be using the camera to take pictures at my high school football games since I am on the yearbook staff. Hence the really good action shots and in the night setting. Thanks for any camera opinion's! Oh and if possible keep the prices under $500. I really like the Canon Rebel(not specific which one it is) that my teacher has, but it's like $1, 495.
So any nice action shot cameras under $500 that work good in low light.

Which point and shoot camera takes good indoor pictures?

My Nikon CoolPix recently died. I really liked that it was small enough to put in my pocket and take on the go. I was very happy with the picture quality that I got when I took pictures outside in natural light, but the ones that I took inside were very grainy or had some sort of blur from the light in the picture. I am wanting another little camera that I can take on the go, but wanted to know from other people if there were any good point and shoot cameras that took great pictures inside and out.
