Nikon coolpix 4600 camera does not turn on?

I loaned my nikon coolpix 4600 camera to my daughter to take on a trip. When she came
back the button to turn on the camera no longer works. Pressing it does not do anything.

she claims that she did not drop it or damage it. But who knows what really happened.

assuming that she did not damage the camera does anyone know what could be the problem?

there are 2 buttons on the back of the camera.
one with a triangle (the play button according to the manual)
and the delete button.

if i press these 2 buttons at the same time the camera turns on, but the lens does not extend.
then by pressing the play button again, by itself, the lens extends.

i tried taking the batteries out for a long time (about 20 minutes) and reinstall them.
but the problem persists.

How to set up a home photo studio?

I am 14 and I really want to set up a photo studio in my house. I want studio quality pictures on a extremely low budget. I want to be a rockabilly/pinup model, so one of my friends will be taking pictures of me. I also will be taking pics of my 2 dogs that are models and impersonators. I am tired of having to book a session with the photographer and then waiting. I want to take their picture when I need them to model something new.
I have a Nikon Coolpix S202. My mom has a Canon PowerShot SX110 IS. My sister has a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. Which would be the best?
What do I do for backdrop? What fabric works the best? What size?
What do I do for lighting? I have a few clamp on worklights (not sure if that is what you call them). Would that work?
I am very new to photography so I don't know all the technical terms, so please don't use them in your answer. I want words that I can understand.
Any other info would be greatly appreciated:)

Nikon Coolpix L18 camera takes blurry pictures?

I dont even move the camera and it takes blurry pictures. My old camera had 1.3 megapixles and took better pictures than this one, which has 8.0 megapixles. Do i have to change the settings, ive tried everything.
i would like for my pictures to take pictures with the natural sunlight, when i take pics in my room, the picture comes out orange-like. I dont like that.
what is the problem?

What's a good starter digital slr camera?

I've been interested in photography for a while now and i love to take pictures with my Nikon coolpix s630, but i feel like it limits me. I want a good starter amateur camera. I don't care what brand it is. Do you have any suggestions for something not too expensive ( like $300-600) that takes really good quality pictures and is fairly easy to operate?

How to Charge a Digital Camera Without the Charger?

My sister has this big thing tonight and we need a camera. We have a Nikon Coolpix S310 and cannot find the charger. I've cleaned my whole room and looked all over but we cannot find it. You plug one end into the camera and the USB end into the wall charger. I've tried another cable from another old camera. It fits perfectly, but won't charge for some reason. Is there anything I can do?

Guide me in deciding a Camera?

I am confused among Nikon Coolpix P90, Canon Powershot SX20 IS, Sony Cybershot HX1.

My expectations are easy use, good quality pictures, battery life, vibration reduced pictures when capturing a moving object. I have read quite a few reviews about each camera and each of them promises to be a good one and value for their money.

My concern is shooting at nights and shooting at low lights as most of the camera fail during low lights.

Why does my digital camera take blurry pictures?

I have a Nikon Coolpix Touchscreen (S4100) and I love it. But everytime I take a picture, its really bad quality! I've tried changing settings, turning flash on and off, but nothing is working! What's wrong with it? This camera was over $100, and the pictures are really bad. How do I fix it? Please help!
