Which camera and mic is better?

This summer, I'm shooting a documentary film on a factory, and I want to know which camera has a better picture outcome: the Nikon Coolpix 510, or the Canon Vixia HF R400. And, what are some cheap but great mics (under $50) I could possibly buy?
Thanks,
Riley

CAMERA DILEMMA! Sony Cyber-shot, or Nikon Coolpix?

I'm going travelling for 2 months, and need a small compact digital camera to take with me.

I've been going through so many cameras, and have finally narrowed it down to two:
- Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W180B or,
- Nikon Coolpix S2800

They both pretty much have the same specs - 20mp, CCD sensor, panoramic settings. I've been trawling through reviews to see if there is anything that distinguishes between the two but they've all been surprise surprise - the same sort of reviews.

There was one website which only rated the Nikon a 3/5, because of lacking features and battery life. This to me makes no difference.

At first I thought I'd go for the Sony, but the difference in price is only £20, but for the same sort of camera, is it worth spending the extra £20?

Has anyone got, or had either of these two cameras who could help me out in deciding which one to get?

Thanks everyone!

How many pictures/videos will fit on a 8gb SDHC card for 8mp camera?

I'm going to be buying a 8mp camera to take to me to Mexico in a month and I'd like to buy a storage card at the same time. I was wondering how many pictures will fit on this card? Also, how many minutes of video will fit on this card? If it helps, I'll be purchasing the Nikon Coolpix L18 camera. Thanks!

Should you format a memory card before using it?

I didn't format my last memory card before using it on my nikon coolpix camera… And often times I would go back to look at my pictures and several of them would come up as saying no picture memory found or something like that

would formatting ahead of time help this?
if so, how?

I liked Nikon a lil bit more because of this video.

But I don't know how Fujifilm would be in such situation.

Anyway, Which do you think I have to buy?

Battery problems with Nikon Coolpix L100 Camera?

I bought it off Ebay so i cant return it and get a new one from a store etc etc. The firmware is updated to 1.1 and the option for rechargeable batts is on. But when i put in brand new fully charged batts it shows that the battery level is low.

is there anyway i can take it some where and they can install a different battery (like a battery pack?)

Im using this to help shoot my honeymoon and with batterys that die so fast im not sure what to do. I just bought it and my honeymoon is 2 weeks away so returning it and finding a new one and getting it here wont work.

Any help?

Waterproof cameras: which is better for the price, Panasonic or Nikon?

I'm trying to decide between two waterproof point-and-shoot cameras:

PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-TS5 BLUE + BUNDLE $320
Shape is easiest and most comfortable to hold, but not as streamlined and would be bulkier in pocket. Heavier than the Nikons. I was told this one is 'the best' by two different sales people.

NIKON COOLPIX AW110 + BUNDLE SPECIAL $260
This one is last year's model on clearance and includes Photoshop Elements 11.
Feels lighter and has a slimmer design that would be easier to slip in and out of my pocket.

My purpose would be 99% land use, especially landscapes, nature, outdoors, but also people, indoors, night pics, etc. I may use when traveling, hiking, trekking, snorkeling or doing other activities where the waterproof/rugged features as well as GPS would be handy. I don't plan on diving for needing deep underwater pics, but who knows, I am in the future. Camera must be easy to use as I am usually active and only have one hand free when taking photos.

I'd like good quality pictures because I share them online and often print them.

So, do I get this year's Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS5, touted as 'the best waterproof camera', or save some money and get last year's Nikon Coolpix AW110, the 'second best waterproof camera'?

Where can I learn how to use digital cameras?

I currently have a Nikon Coolpix P80. I recently have really gotten into photography and I would like to get a DSLR camera during Christmas sometime. However, by the time I get the new camera I want to know how to use my current camera very well so that I can know how to use the new one proficiently as well. I am at a very beginner level currently. Where can I learn how to become a good photographer. I know I have to learn though experience but I am very willing to spend hours taking pictures. Where can I learn what all the terms mean and how to adjust them to do what I want them to do. Thank you!

Why does my point and shoot camera have such a big zoom compared to a DSLR lens?

A while ago I was into photogrophy and I got a Nikon Coolpix P80. Recently I have gotten a lot more into taking pictures and I have been looking at a lot of DSLR cameras and their lenses. Why does my Coolpix have an 18X zoom and is 27-486mm, while a normal DSLR kit lens is 18-55mm. The Coolpix has a much larger range. Why is this? How can they do that on the Coolpix normal lens? Sorry this is a beginner question, but as I said I am just getting into it all.
