I'm thinking of buying a new compact camera because I desperately need it. I want more manual controls because I'm tired of cameras held with two fingers that decide what I want to see and shoot. Because I can't even think about SLRs, I want a decent compact or bridge camera for max 270-280 USD, and there are quite a few to choose from. I discarded Olympus, Sony and Samsung since they don't offer much manual control, however Canon's Powershots like SX160, 240 etc.seem not only to suit my needs, but also go surprisingly easy on the wallet. I've heard Nikon has some Coolpix cameras that have good manual controls, but most of them are full auto. I've also seen a few Fujifilm models and have been told they are also good with manuals. But since I'm just a beginner in this field, I would like your suggestions, what should I choose?
