Hi :-)
I am 15 years old and have recently started a little (very little!) business using my photography. I currently have a $300 digital Nikon camera (coolpix) that I got last year for Christmas, but to be completely honest it isn't worth the money. The only good thing about this camera is the selective colour effects and all the Scene options it has (eg.beach, pet portrait, nature, etc.) It has no image stability whats-o-ever and it is almost impossible to take a photo that is not blurry - other than when you are outside in broad daylight. The flash is horrible, you cannot take photos at night properly and the shutter speed is ridiculous. You cannot control this camera - it has a terrible mind of it's own! My cousin recently bought an SLR and says it's definitely worth the money. The reason I want an SLR is because you have control over shutter speed and things like that, and it makes things that bit easier. The images are also amazing quality and there is no worrying about that blur in the images. Because of the fact that I use my images for creating canvases, I would love a better camera, even if the camera I have now is expensive enough. I have used Canon SLR's at school and they're fantastic, but there are so many different types with ranging prices that I have no idea which one would be best for me? Basically, what I am looking for in a camera is:
-Full control over how the camera operates, eg.shutter speed
-Possibly effects such as selective colour and different modes for certain scenes (nature eg.)
-Easy to use
-Fantastic image quality
-Night photography that won't blind people and take 5 minutes to take one photo.
-Clear photos in any lighting, hopefully
-Since I use my camera for parties and nature mostly, I would LOVE a camera that could zoom in heaps and still show all the detail of flowers and leaves and all that stuff.
-A camera that focuses on a face or an object and blurs out the background (sorry, I don't know the name of that sort of effect)
-A camera that's price won't use up all my life savings :)))
Thanks!
Sorry for the draining paragraph.
