Need opinions about this camera?

I really like what I've seen about this camera so far, but I wanted to ask for some expert opinions.

Mainly I like the ability to take pictures from far away.Is a "super zoom" camera like this the best way to go? I'd like to stay in the $300-400 range, but if someone can suggest a better camera, that would be awesome.

Also I would like to know how a professional photographer would go about taking far away pictures? What kind of equipment is used for that typically?

Problems with my nikon s8100.help?

I was given a brand new nikon s8100 that apparently stopped working.It took 15 pictures then was put on charge for a few hours, when they tried to turn it on it showed a battery with a circle around it and a line through the battery.just wondering what might be wrong. I assumed it was a bad battery but was just going to see if anyone else had this happen.
